How to Verify a School Fee Receipt and Prevent Fake Receipts

How can a school tell whether a fee receipt is genuine?
Check it against the school's own records using a unique receipt number or verification code, and confirm the M-Pesa transaction code appears in the payments list. A receipt that cannot be found, or was cancelled, should not be accepted as proof of payment.
Why fake receipts happen
Paper receipts and edited screenshots are easy to forge, and a forged receipt often surfaces only at exam or clearance time. Verification should rely on the school's records, not on the document the parent presents.
How verification works in PayDesk
Each receipt PayDesk issues for a completed payment is archived with a unique verification code. Anyone with the code can check it on a public verification page, without logging in. It shows whether the receipt is valid, plus the receipt number, issue date and school name. A receipt is only valid if the payment is completed and the receipt has not been invalidated; an invalidated receipt shows when it was invalidated.
If a completed payment is later changed to refunded, disputed or failed, PayDesk reverses its allocations and invalidates its receipt automatically, so the receipt stops verifying as valid.
